The Admission Point Score (APS) is used by Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) to determine eligibility for admission. It's calculated by converting your final high school marks into points and summing the points from your six best subjects (excluding Life Orientation).
The calculator uses the standard CPUT APS conversion:

Details: Your APS score determines which programs you qualify for at CPUT. Different programs have different minimum APS requirements, and some competitive programs may require higher scores than the minimum.
Tips: Enter percentages for your six best subjects (excluding Life Orientation). You can optionally include Life Orientation to see how it doesn't affect your APS. Percentages must be between 0-100.
Q1: Why is Life Orientation excluded?
A: CPUT and most South African universities exclude Life Orientation from APS calculations as it's considered a non-academic subject.
Q2: What is a good APS score?
A: This depends on the program. Minimum requirements range from 18-28 points, with competitive programs requiring higher scores.
Q3: Can I include more than 6 subjects?
A: No, only your six best subjects (excluding Life Orientation) are considered for APS calculation.
Q4: How do I know if my APS meets requirements?
A: Check the specific requirements for your chosen program on the CPUT website or prospectus.
Q5: Does CPUT use different APS calculations for different programs?
A: Some programs may have additional subject-specific requirements, but the basic APS calculation remains the same.
